Point Loma Marina LLC, a partnership
between Driscoll Inc. and Beauchamp Realty, Inc., has received a
one-year agreement from the San Diego Unified Port District to
develop a plan to build the Marina Green Bayside commercial site.
The site is located on the 4900 block of North Harbor Drive. The
plan, which will include developing architectural drawings and
obtaining entitlements, is due on March 31, 2006.
Point Loma Marina’s vision for the 5.5 acre “The Wharf” project and
components approved by the Port includes 50 marina slips,
recreational dock, enhanced commercial fishing space for fish
off-loading, fish market and commercial fishing boats, a 13,000
square foot public park and promenade and a pedestrian pier, food
court, restaurant, retail and office space and parking. Additional
parking will be provided on the adjacent Driscoll Wharf property,
currently under lease to Tom Driscoll, a Point Loma Marina
principal.
Driscoll said, “We have a long commitment to the entire waterfront
community, demonstrated by our development of Driscoll Wharf and
Kettenberg Marine, among others. Simultaneous to developing The
Wharf plan, we will begin immediately on the second phase of our
master plan to further develop the Driscoll Wharf property.”
Point Loma Marina is targeting Spring 2006 to begin building the
project, estimated to take a year. The principals of “Point Loma
Marina LLC” include Driscoll Inc., Beauchamp Realty, Inc. and Eric
and Patricia Leslie.
Thomas Driscoll, and his father Gerald Driscoll, are partners in
Driscoll Inc. Together they have been established waterfront
business owners and operators for four decades. They currently own
and operate four boatyards: Driscoll Mission Bay, Driscoll’s Wharf,
Kettenburg Marina, and Driscoll Boat Works, plus a recreational boat
marina in Mission Bay and a commercial fishing marina in San Diego
Bay. Three of these properties are Master Leases with the San Diego
Unified Port District.
John and Beverly Beauchamp Grimstad are principals in Beauchamp
Realty, Inc., as well as in the real estate holdings of the Orange
County-based Beauchamp properties. The Beauchamp family’s
properties include four Southern California marinas totaling over
2,100 slips and a recreational mooring buoy system (also an existing
Master Lessee of the Port District). In the last three decades, the
Beauchamp family holdings have included hotels, shopping centers and
multi-family residential properties. They are also co-owners in
Western Dental, a family-owned dental HMO with over 140 offices
statewide.
Eric Leslie is a longtime manager of multiple bay front and real
estate properties. |
